After you have completed your simulator and classroom, and after you have completed your in–car lessons and practicing, your instructor will probably recommend that you sign up to take your road exam.


Recent changes in provincial regulations now prevent driving schools from facilitating Class 5 road exams at their premises. All road exams must now be booked and paid for in person through a registry agent by the person taking the exam. Some examiners will test you in your own vehicle, while others will only test in a driving school vehicle with passenger side brake and mirror.  Registry agents do not provide vehicles for this purpose.


Freedom to Drive has a vehicle permanently parked at All Licences Registry, located in the Ermineskin Strip Mall, 3012 – 106 Street.  Any student may rent this vehicle for a class 5 road test for $50.00.  Payment for the vehicle rental must be made through the Freedom to Drive office.   We will supply proof of payment to the registry office prior to the exam.


Premium Packages and Adaptive Controls Packages do not have to pay for road test vehicle rentals. Critical Skills Packages and some Budget Packages may also use the vehicle one time only as part of the Christmas Special, however clients are responsible for making sure that a vehicle is available for their road test.


Because registries DO  NOT provide a refund once an exam has been booked, please make sure that you have an appropriate vehicle available on the registry premises prior to the exam.  This is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY.  Freedom to Drive will provide guarantee availability of the vehicle for the exam only after rental payment or booking confirmation has been made.


Everyone must pay the examiner through the registry, however.


Remember – it is cheaper to take additional lessons  than it is to take and fail a road exam!!
